When carrying out pest control, there are literally dozens of options. These range from pest proofing, to traps, pesticides, fumigation, and heat based insect control. Out of all these options, pesticides, fumigation and heat are most often used. But which of these is the better option? Most importantly, which of these is the safer option?
Many people are concerned when it comes to pest control, and rightfully so. A lot of people do not like the idea of pesticides, chemicals, and poisons being used in their home. These compounds are toxic after all.
If something goes wrong, the health of your family can be compromised. In addition to this, your pets may also be harmed. Not only that, things like pesticides and poisons are extremely harsh chemicals and are often used by pest control scammers. This means their usage could potentially damage the items in your home as well. This may include things like carpets, floorboards, wallpaper and furniture. Along with this, they can also lower the air quality in your home.
This is really the issue with fumigation and pesticides. It’s also the reason why these types of pest treatments are going out of fashion. Today’s modern pest controllers are now opting in favour of heat based insect control.
This method is vastly safer than pesticides and fumigation and also classes as eco-friendly pest control. This simple reason is because no chemicals are used at all. The way that heat based insect control works is simple. The theory is basically that each organism dies at a certain temperature. For example, bed bugs die at 57°C.
This method also has other advantages. One of the biggest is that it kills everything, including the eggs, nymphs, and larvae. This is a huge problem with something like fumigation. The eggs and larvae are often unharmed. These them hatch and the problem starts all over again.
Another huge benefit of heat based insect control is that you do not have to air out your home to get rid of fleas or bed bugs. The problem with fumigation and pesticides is that they leave a residue behind. This means that the home needs to be aired out for several hours, or even days. Even when you’re reentered the home, there is the still worry that you’re breathing in trace amounts of pesticides. With heat treatments, you do not have this concern, which is why they are now so popular.
